If all this is new to you and you're thinking "Too Much Information!" - Don't Panic! We're actual people and we've got Mums who "don't know anything about that stuff". We're approachable (honest!) and we're happy to discuss any of these things with you - or none at all if you'd prefer not to know. The truth is you don't need to know, this information's just here as guidance, we do all the work.
Web Development Virtually Webbed will provide a complete package of web design from the creation of a concept to implementing an optimised coding solution. We aim primarily at small businesses which includes personal, charitable and informational sites. That is to say we are not a big enough company to support enterprise solutions for large companies. Being small we won't always have the expertise under our own roof and will obtain help where required if you need specific features we can't currently support. This will be made clear at the time of agreeing the website content.
Site Maintenance From time to time you will require updates to your website which can range from changing business contact information or adding a page for a new service as your business expands to adding e-commerce facilities to a brochure site. Virtually Webbed can offer this service as and when the customer requires on an hourly rate or on a monthly fixed price service contract. Note that we do not offer to maintain websites not designed and built by Virtually Webbed.
Traffic Management There's no point in having a website just because everyone else does, we know it's because you want to advertise your product or idea or event or creation. Your website is potentially your greatest marketing tool and for it to be cost effective you need to drive or pull visitors to your site. When that happens you have one of the cheapest forms of advertising available today. We use our expertise in the internet together with your expertise of business to make make sure that if people want what you are offering then they will find you.
Web Hosting Before you can get your website online you need a domain name (www.yourcompanyname.com) and a place to locate your website - a webhost. Virtually Webbed prefer to host websites we design because that way we can offer full support to the client in terms of maintenance and availability all from a single point of contact. We also offer Web Hosting as a service in its own right at competitive prices. Along with hosting we can also provide e-mail and e-marketing services in our websites to give full integration with the contact services offered.
Domain Name Registration Before you can get your website online you need a domain name (yourcompanyname.com) and a place to locate your website - a webhost. We can register and manage your domain name for you as part of an integrated service or buy and manage your domain name as a stand alone service.
Copy Editing We expect the technical content of a site to be supplied by the client but we know that not everyone has a gift for writing copy. Virtually Webbed will correct your copy for grammar and spelling if required.
Content Management Virtually Webbed do not provide a Content Management System (CMS) with a website as standard. We rely on good content being provided by the client which we will incorporate into the pages we design. We can supply a CMS if required but we feel that the needs of the client is best suited by tailoring specific parts of the site to give access to specific content which can be updated by the client. In most cases if a client requires a blog or an E-shop which will be managed by the client this is provided by a CMS.
Blog Integration Blogs aren't just a means for individuals to voice opinions they also provide a way of disseminating knowledge on specific topics from laymen and experts alike. A good blog attracts a following and in this way the blogger can direct readers/followers to products they wish to promote or to their shop/website. It can form an integral part of the business marketing strategy and along with a number of other tools can help to direct more customers to your business. Virtually Webbed can customize a blog to have the same visual appearance as your website or contain your company logo and thus integrate with your website.
Customer Contact Virtually Webbed can add features which allow visitor interaction with the website and contact with you. By encouraging interaction you can keep the visitor on your website longer and facilitate capture of contact information which you can use to maintain that contact far beyond the visit to the website. This is a more direct form of contact than offered by a blog but a blog can be an extension of customer contact.
Registration or Contact Form A registration form can be used to capture contact details by offering for example a newsletter in return or access to a members area for say user documentation for a product.
Booking Form If you're marketing an event of some sort or wish to offer personal services for example a personal visit or a coaching session, an online booking form is vital.
Contact Database Contact information can be used more effectively as part of an e-marketing strategy if linked to a database. Virtually Webbed can integrate your contact and enquiry form data with a database and thus to e-marketing tools.
E-Commerce Virtually Webbed can provide the facility for online selling or e-commerce with shopping cart and secure checkout facilities. This feature will be activated shortly.
Shopping Cart A shopping cart permits the customer to select items in your online shop. This can be integrated, along with the secure payment system, into your website to permit electronic sales to be processed. This feature will be activated shortly.
Secure Checkout Security is of the utmost importance when it comes to online payment. Virtually Webbed can offer, through the hosting SSL, checkout and payment by integrating reliable and world class tools designed for this purpose. We can tailor the forms of payment to match your needs e.g. PayPal, Visa. These can be linked if required to electronic book-keeping tools to minimize the overhead of managing payment recording. This feature will be activated shortly.
Graphic Design Graphic design includes the Visual Design of the website and incorporation of logos and images. We understand that a website should reflect the character of the client and this is expressed visually in the first instance. Virtually Webbed are not a dedicated graphic design company but will work with the client to ensure that visual appearance of the site is consistent with their branding.
Site Optimisation As a part of the standard service, Virtually Webbed optimise the code used to build the website to make it search engine friendly. We will also ensure that you are registered with the major web search engines. In these ways we improve the website scoring for natural searches so that when someone performs a search on Google for example, it is more likely to be higher up the page rankings and is found faster after launch than it would if these measures weren't implemented. In addition we can add a link to your web site from ours which begins to improve the search engine score of your site.
Virtual Networking Virtual Networking is the term Virtually Webbed call the service we can provide to enhance your visibility on the internet. We can advise on methods of increasing the traffic to view your website by the use of blogs and social networking such as Facebook.
Analytics As we design a website for you we strive to ensure it is optimised to make it visible to search engines - we don't charge extra for this as we feel it is part of a basic customer service. We can provide to the client data derived from monitoring access to the website to show the visitor demographic and statistics to indicate the success of the website in attracting visitors.
E-Mail E-Mail addresses can be set up for anyname@yourdomainname with autoresponse and autoforwarding to any other e-mail address. This may be useful if you want to separate your business contact name from private contact name and manage your business traffic better. Note: we can also register and manage your domain name.
E-Marketing E-Marketing is the term used to describe the linking of your customer/contact database to the automatic sending of electronic mail shots or newsletters. This keeps you in contact with potential or existing customers. An opt-out feature is provided so that recipients can unsubscribe if they are no longer interested. This feature will be activated shortly.
Logo Design If the customer has a logo we can incorporate the image into the web design if provided. We can also adapt it to provide branded icons in the browser address bar and page tabs. If the customer requires a logo where one does not already exist we can assist in creating a design, however we will not deal with the registration of trademarks.
Visual Design Virtually Webbed will work up front with the client to determine the visual requirements for pages and the implementation of page navigation. If the client already has a strong branding theme these can be incorporated into the look of the site. The simplest sites are static as any form of animation especially flash, is costly and complex to implement. We can provide simple animation, as demonstrated in our example websites, including this one as we understand the importance of grabbing the attention of the visitor.
Images Good quality images can enhance visitor experience considerably. This can be as simple as a photograph of the business manager or the office but more often examples of the work being manufactured or sold. Virtually Webbed can offer a number of services to assist with the creation of images for the website.
Client Image Integration We will integrate photographs or images provided by the client for the purpose so long as the copyright is held by the client.
Image Optimisation Virtually Webbed can convert your images to the correct file format and resolution to optimise the display, speed and quality on your website.
Image Enhancement Virtually Webbed can provide digital touch up of images provided by the client if this is required prior to integration with the website.
Stock Images If the client wishes specific imagery to give a message or theme then Virtually Webbed can source stock photographs or images. We will only use reputable sources where the right to use the image has been purchased to avoid copyright infringement.
Photography Virtually Webbed are not professional photographers but can provide a photographic service where the client is local.
This is generally seen as a badge of honour among developers but we believe it's more than that, it's a sign of our commitment to doing things right. You can rest assured that we've taken the time to write compliant code and we haven't just hacked your site together. It's also a sign that your site will remain one of the most stable through any future updates in web technology.
